Be inspired this June by a 10-year-old South African girl. She has done so much with her life in only a few short years and is truly a human being we all can learn from.
Stacey Fru, is a self-acclaimed published South African Author who has won multiple awards.
Hailing from Jozi, Fru wrote her first book ‘Smelly Cats’ when she was 7 and this was without the knowledge of her parents. When she turned 8, her book was published.
By the time her second book ‘Bob and the Snake’ was published, 9-year-old Fru was three times (multiple) award winner.
The synopsis of her book, ‘Smelly Cats’, is as follows: It is about two cats who are cousins. It portrays the common challenges of different socio-religious and academic backgrounds as well as challenges posed by geographical locations to the two on a daily basis. Stacey’s book also depicts that even though the cats come from the same family, they are bound to have differences due to who they are. The constant fights are real reflections of daily lives. However, just like in real life, fights are a vital spice of life that do not last forever.

‘Smelly Cats’ is the 2016 NDA ‘Best ECD Publication 2015: Special Mention Category’, prize donated by UNICEF.
She won 2 awards at ‘Young Leader 2016’ for her leading motivational and inspirational roles, and ‘Academic Achievements and Initiatives 2016’ for her writings at the East Wave Radio Nelson Mandela International Community Day Leadership Award.
This young girl is passionate about writing and writes stories, essays, poems, speeches and attempts songs. She is also a guitarist and a ballerina. Apart from this, she still finds time to be a motivational and inspirational speaker
In August 2016, Fru became the Youngest Founding Member of Wits University Centre for Multilingual Education and Literacy.
