September & October #InspirationForTheNation

This month’s #InspirationForTheNation is a combined one for both September and October.

I am highlighting a dear friend of mine, Brandon Jooste.

Brandon was born with a degenerative disease called spinal muscular atrophy and over the years his conditioned worsened, ultimately leaving him wheelchair-bound in his teenage years.

Although, now in his 30s, Brandon continues to reap the repercussions of the disease, but does not let this stop him. He drives an automatic vehicle, plays with his son, rides a stationary bike to stay active and keeps his arms in check by lifting weights. Brandon has also made a point of living his dreams, such as having recently entered into the Quads 4 Quads off-road adventure ride which will see him travelling from Durban to Johannesburg.

The event kicked off on 05 October 2017 and Brandon is flying the flag high for quadriplegics, with the help of sponsors such as Fabricon Engineering – who sponsored the quad bike- as well as Fox and Thor who sponsored his kit.

In order to capture all the action, Brandon was also equipped with two action cameras courtesy of Statio Property and MiView Digital

Quads 4 Quads is now in 14th year and QASA is a very proud beneficiary.

The QuadPara Association of South Africa strives to prevent spinal cord injury, as well as protect and promote the interests of people with mobility impairments by formulating a national policy and strategy, to develop and ensure the full potential and quality of their lives.

The event is sure to be a challenge for all involved, but through the effort in preparing for the event, he, his family, friends and fellow riders are positive that he will complete the ride.

In a message posted on Facebook, he said: “Thank you all for the messages and support. The first day was incredibly tough with the elements, cold, windy and raining. We didn’t make it all the way but we are in Weenen and ready for tomorrow. Thank the Lord for keeping us safe and thank you all again for all the support. #fabricon#fox #thor #miview #quads4quads  #dbn2jhbinthedirt “

Best wishes my friend!
